THE STORM INDUSTRY PROBLEM
According to the US Department of Commerce, construction companies and contractors have the highest failure rate of any other business. Up to 96% of these companies fail before reaching ten years in operation. Added to this, many of the more established local contractors are selling out their companies to outside private equity firms. This has pulled the rug out from many of those employed by such companies as they are having to suddenly acclimate to the whims of a corporate entity. It also does not bode well when big national firms on the coasts are invested in profits and not the people across the table.
There is another massive problem facing our industry: storm damage has been at record highs for the previous five years in Minnesota and Wisconsin, and it does not appear to be slowing down anytime soon.
